Finding Purpose and Meaning in Our Practice – Moving Out Into the WorldExploring powerful and subtle Vinyasa flows, we’ll use our asana practice as a tool for discernment. This will be an investigation of our selves, of our unique abilities, to discover our deeper purpose and our ability to act meaningfully.
Each of us has the power to serve; when we come from authenticity with meaning, our service – or Seva – can add purpose to our lives as well as support those in need.
We hope to be able to help each and every student to activate and engage and to begin to discern how each of us can become conscious activists.
A practice of slow and long, deep devotional flows, coupled with periods of introspection. The asana will be followed by a meditation and short discussion. Accessible to all levels.
I’ll be offering this twice in August:

Yoga and Mandala Drawing is taught by Anstasia Grebnova. Anastasia received her yoga teacher certification from Kripalu Center, the largest & most established center for yoga and holistic living in the U.S. Anastasia has also been a professional painter for over ten years. She has been fascinated with mandalas as a macro / micro reﬂection of our inner universe. Her workshop combining Yoga and mandala drawing comes out of the yoga and painting experience.

This workshop leads the participant through experiments that can awaken their sense of touch, weight, space and movement, the doorways to personal expression. We are our own teachers as we share images, insights and experiences. This workshop is about using your curiosity to discover what your body wants to show you.
We explore our bodies’ response to movement / weight / texture /space / seeing. We learn from ourselves and each other. This is a workshop for anyone who is curious to see what their innate expression looks like on the page.

Jal Neti is one of the Shatkarmas. To be taught Tuesday 12 noon, April 9. Shatkarmas ar cleansing techniques used in Hatha Yoga. ‘Shat’ six, ‘karma’ action. Impurities, allergens, toxins, wastes (mucus, phlegm) are removed from the sinus cavities with Jal Neti. The doshas (kapha, pitta, vata: water, fire, air) are put into balance with the practice of the shatkarmas. It is important to know the do’s and dont’s of the practice of Jal Neti; the removal of all the water, safely; and the after care. Neti pots are availa! ble for purchase, $14 plus sales tax. The basic human desire and need to be recognized and accepted is one of the driving forces of life. This authentic movement work can tap into that profound thirst that we often carry to be seen, truly as we are, without disguise – a thirst perhaps stemming from experiences of not having been seen enough earlier in life (or having been seen in negative ways). Within this desire to be seen/known, there can also exist a fear of truly being seen as we are, with all of our perceived flaws – a fear of exposure. I believe authentic movement facilitates a deeper sense of safety and trust within oneself and in relationship to others. Through the intelligence of the body/mind and heart, we can come home to an inner knowing, a deep wisdom and truth, at our own pace. As such, the experience can range from tender stillness, restful and soft, to wild or light-hearted, to playful, awkward, sad, joyous etc. It is in this journey through witnessing and being witnessed, that we are reminded to make room for the whole of our experience: for a renewed integration of intimacy with all the parts of ourselves.
