East meets West now that cutting edge neuroscience shines light on the benefits of ancient Chinese and Indian wisdom. Restorative yoga and meditation stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, retrain neural pathways to fire positive instead of negative, lower blood pressure, reduce heart rate, and decrease stress.
Each class has a different meditation theme and focus, with a restorative flow asana practice building up to the sitting. René Love makes meditating fun and accessible, so if you’ve been wanting to build a personal practice but find the idea daunting, this class will be welcoming for you. There are so many different types of meditation, just as effective as a Zen/Vipassana sit, but a little easier to get into. We’ll learn all kinds of pranayama, physical positioning, and visualizations that decrease cortisol, and stimulate more mellow brain wave frequencies.
Meditation and yoga are the antidote for pretty much everything we need an antidote for. They help us get control of our lives, restore balance, increase well-being, de-stress and increase energy. Many of the meditations we’ll cover are somatic focused, so it’s not just about getting to know the nature of mind, but getting to know the nature of body!! Want to be able to listen to your body’s wisdom and feel body gratitude? We’ll learn amazing meditations that re-connect you with your physical body. Develop internal balance and strength through this fabulous practice.
See you on Wednesdays from 5-6 and Thursdays from 1:30-2:30 starting 8/21!
